Your Average Joe gets a New (Life-Threating) Job

Studio StarDuzt, located in Melbourne Australia, is a team of nine amazing creatives trying to make our own animated short "I Have Tonnes of Work and Now I'm a Magical Girl". This is an action/comedy short with the witty humour of Adult Swim.

So, What's the Story?

Set in the 2000's, this animated short combines both Western and Japanese art styles. We follow the protagonist Joe, a tired and overworked businessman. Joe's ordinary work day is turned upside down when he is unwantedly transformed into a magical girl. This skittish, insecure, corporate man would rather be anywhere else than fighting monsters with a group of reckless magical teens known as Galaglitz. When the time comes, Joe must overcome his personal struggles by teaming up with a group of eccentric magical girls and their mascot to keep the city safe.

Our Inspirations

Utilising a world's collide premise to build our story, we came up with the idea of a businessman thrown into the job of defending his city as a magical girl.

While developing our project our team was inspired by the simple geometric shapes/forms found in the art styles of late 2000's Western and Japanese animated media. This influenced our productions art style and animation choices.
